The award-winning singer-songwriter adds his voice to the search for a Gibson guitar that inspired millions to play
For the uninitiated, it’s one of the biggest guitar mysteries of the modern age. Gibson is spearheading a global search for the missing ES-345 played by Marty McFly in the iconic Enchantment Under the Sea dance scene in the 1985 movie Back to the Future. And now, multiple GRAMMY® Award winner Jason Isbell is the latest star to add his voice to the Lost to the Future campaign.
Isbell is no stranger to vintage Gibsons, but when he encountered Marty McFly’s ES-345 at the age of nine years old, it left a lasting impression.
“There was a movie store down the street,” Isbell recalls. “When my parents would go to work in the summers they would leave me two dollars, and I would go rent two movies. One of those, one day, was Back to the Future. I just immediately became obsessed with that movie. The thing that really got me at nine years old was that I was like, oh, he really is playing the guitar. He knows how to do that.”
