All three are finished in Smooth Copper—named after Smooth, the nickname of the Gibson team member who handled the project—and feature pickguards repurposed from an acoustic with an attractive curly maple back that unfortunately had to be scrapped. Other common features include Firebird™ Reissue humbuckers and knurled control knobs. Let’s take a look at each model in more detail.
Gibson MOD Collection Firebird Platypus in Smooth Copper
In addition to the Smooth Copper finish and Firebird™ Alnico 5 pickups, this instrument also features chrome hardware including knurled knobs, chrome Grover® Mini Rotomatic® locking tuners, a flamed maple truss rod cover, and hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop® capacitors. It weighs 8.4 lb and comes with a hardshell case and two-year playability warranty.
Gibson MOD Collection ES-330 in Smooth Copper
There can’t be too many Gibson ES-330 models out there with factory Firebird pickups. This instrument also features chrome hardware, tortoise plastics, Gibson Deluxe tuners with white buttons, a Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, chrome knurled knobs, and smooth chrome pickup covers with custom-made tortoise mounting rings. It weighs 6.6 lb and comes with a hardshell case and two-year playability warranty.

Thanks to its twin Firebird pickups, this Les Paul Special offers a unique voice to go along with its striking aesthetic. It weighs 8.6 lb and comes with a hardshell case and two-year playability warranty.
