Gibson TV en Español features original new content on guitars, music, and culture
The latest episode of Gibson TV’s “Mi Historia” has dropped, featuring an interview with Venezuelan singer-songwriter Joaquina, conducted a few weeks prior to the release of her debut album, Al Romper la Burbuja. Joaquina discusses her creative process, emphasizing her hands-on approach to songwriting and production.
Joaquina also talks about how growing up surrounded by 90s pop-rock, Latin ballads, and traditional Venezuelan folk music shaped her sound and how legendary songwriters like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King helped her discover the power of words and melody. She continues to tour internationally, captivating audiences with her heartfelt performances and authentic storytelling.
At just 20 years old, Joaquina has rapidly emerged as one of Latin pop’s most compelling new voices. Born in Caracas, she relocated to Miami at the age of six, where she began crafting songs by the age of eight. In 2023, Joaquina made history as the youngest artist to win the Latin Grammy® for Best New Artist, a recognition that followed the release of her debut EP, Los Mejores Años, which also earned her a nomination for Best Singer-Songwriter Album. She says, “I think the first time I really wrote a song I liked, I was 15.”
Joaquina’s music blends Latin pop with elements of pop rock and folk, drawing inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift, Shakira, and Rosalía. She is deeply involved in the production of her music, often using her guitar as a creative portal to write songs and assess their quality before moving into full production. Joaquina has been seen performing with a Gibson L-00 in Ebony during intimate shows across Europe and Latin America.
