After an exciting number of months in the design and building phase, Gibson Garage London is now open. The regular hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10:00-7:00 pm and from 12:00-6:00 pm on Sunday.
Where is the Gibson Garage London?
The Gibson Garage London is a vast retail hub just a stone’s throw away from Oxford Street at 61-62 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8NQ. This easily accessible location offers 4,500 square feet of retail space dedicated to guitar enthusiasts.
The Gibson Garage is the ultimate guitar experience and destination for music lovers across the globe and the place to explore Gibson’s 130-year music history. The Gibson Garage London is the first flagship store outside of the US and follows the wildly successful opening of the Gibson Garage Nashville.
What can I buy at the Gibson Garage London?
Gibson Garage London is a retail experience like no other where visitors can pick up, play, and buy guitars, amplifiers, and effects from Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer, MESA/Boogie, and Maestro.
Take your pick from over 300 electric and acoustic guitars or take a piece of history home with you in the shape of our one-of-a-kind instruments, limited-edition gear, accessories and apparel. You can even design your dream guitar from Gibson Custom in store, and handpick the actual top that will feature on your Made to Measure instrument.
What else can I see and do?
The Gibson Garage London offers an unparalleled guitar and music experience, infused with distinct elements of British culture within its walls, including the new Gibson Gallery. Visitors can enjoy weekly live music events, artist showcases, and panel discussions on a state-of-the-art stage located on the lower level. There will even be opportunities to participate in live recordings for an acclaimed Gibson TV series.
The Gibson Gallery, which updates its exhibits twice a year, is dedicated to showcasing the works of British artists and photographers. The first exhibition at the Gibson Gallery features an exclusive collection by Gered Mankowitz, the legendary rock ‘n’ roll photographer whose work over the past 50 years has helped define the visual imagery of influential musicians.
His subjects have included iconic figures such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, PP Arnold, Kate Bush, Elton John, The Jam, Eurythmics, and Oasis. This exhibit will also present rare and previously unseen portraits from Mankowitz’s extensive archive. The curation of this exhibit is a collaboration between RedHouse Gallery and Iconic Images.
What is Gibson saying about Gibson Garage London?
Cesar Gueikian, Gibson President and CEO, states, “When we first began designing the Gibson Garage, our global flagship, we asked ourselves, ‘What do we want our fans to experience when walking into Gibson?’ We imagined an immersive dream space where fans walk in and say, ‘Wow, this is the place that Gibson should have always had!’
“The Garage we built in Nashville is an exciting place to experience Gibson music and lifestyle through instruments, sound, media, and apparel. The Garage is designed to be a part of the local music community with a live stage featuring performances and events from icons and emerging artists on any given day of the week.
“The Gibson Garage in Nashville has had an extraordinary impact on the music scene in addition to becoming a global music destination, and we are thrilled to bring the Garage to London. As one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, London has always been an influential musical ecosystem and became an obvious choice of where to open our next Gibson Garage.”
Whether you are a seasoned pro, a beginner, a casual guitar player, or simply a music fan, the Gibson Garage London is open to all. It’s a must-see destination in Central London for music lovers.
