The Gibson Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard arrives with onboard 15 dB boost and hum-free P-90s

Handcrafted in the USA and built to take whatever you can throw at it

Gibson has announced the new Warren Haynes Les Paul™ Standard in a striking 60s Cherry finish, combining traditional looks and playing feel with modern innovations. Inspired by the renowned guitarist’s work with The Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule, and more, this latest Les Paul offers hum-free P-90 DC pickups and a built-in 15 dB boost, giving players classic tone with contemporary performance and flexibility. It’s an instrument worthy of Warren’s diverse style, blending vintage appeal with state-of-the-art features and reliability.

“I’ve always been a Gibson guy—I got hooked on that sound as a teenager and have been playing them ever since,” says Warren Haynes. “Needless to say, I’m honored to be partnering with Gibson to release my Signature Les Paul Standard. Being traditionally a humbucker guy, I’m really loving the hum-free P-90s.

“It’s a really cool tonal change, and the boost offers even more tonal options. I’m really enjoying playing this guitar on stage and looking forward to using it in the studio. I’m equally psyched that other guitar players will now have the opportunity to own and play one as well.”

Warren Haynes is renowned for his mastery of rock, blues, and Americana, and this guitar incorporates his preferences for tone, feel, and versatility. Its mahogany body with a carved maple cap resonates with the warmth Les Pauls are famous for, while the mahogany neck features a chunky 50s Vintage profile.

The rosewood fretboard sports acrylic trapezoid inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets, providing comfort and timeless aesthetic appeal. The hum-free P-90 DC pickups capture all the rich, snappy character of classic P-90s—minus the hum—and the 15 dB boost, activated by a mini toggle switch, offers an immediate bump in output for cutting through a mix or pushing the front end of an amp.

These modern updates don’t sacrifice usability: if the 9V battery that powers the boost dies, the guitar continues functioning by simply flipping the switch to the off position. A quick-access battery compartment in the rear control cover makes swapping the battery a breeze.

To top it off, the Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard comes with a Gibson hardshell case for reliable protection. Blending vintage styling with contemporary electronics, this Les Paul is a perfect choice for players seeking both traditional charm and modern performance in one instrument.

What’s the latest music from Warren Haynes?

Last autumn, Warren Haynes launched his fourth solo album, “Million Voices Whisper,” via the Fantasy Records label. On this self-produced album, Haynes showcases his enduring energy and sharp focus, delivering an 11-song collection of soulful blues-rock. It marks his first solo release in nearly 10 years, featuring his current stellar bandmates, including John Medeski on keyboards, longtime drummer Terence Higgins from the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott.

The album also features guest appearances by Derek Trucks, Haynes’ fellow Allman Brothers Band member, whose sublime playing enriches three tracks co-produced with Haynes. Notably, the album reunites Haynes with Trucks for the first time since the Allman Brothers Band disbanded, including the poignant track “Real Real Love,” co-written with Gregg Allman and completed in Allman’s signature style as a tribute to their friendship.

Additionally, Haynes collaborates with Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson, his partners from the Last Waltz tour, on the dynamic track “Day Of Reckoning.”
