Gibson TV en Español’s “Mi Historia” has published a new video interview with Fabián “Zorrito Von” Quintiero, the legendary Argentine keyboardist and bassist. Throughout, Zorrito—like every musician who has truly “made it”—highlights the importance of continual learning, dedication to his craft, and the sheer joy of playing music, first and foremost, for the simple pleasure of it. For Argentine rock fans and aspiring musicians alike, Zorrito’s story offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the remarkable journey of a true music icon.
From his teenage years as a piano student under the guidance of Diego Rapoport to his time with iconic Argentine bands like Soda Stereo and Los Ratones Paranoicos, Zorrito’s story is unique yet so familiar: a passion for music that can be felt in every detail. He shares how his career took off at 16 when he joined Suéter and how a chance encounter at a rock venue in Buenos Aires in the 80s led him to get involved with the legendary band Soda Stereo.
He recalls that pivotal meeting with Gustavo Cerati and how he gradually became their full-time keyboardist, recording with them on the albums Nada Personal and Signos. Zorrito also reflects on his time with Charly García, where he learned a new dimension of music by playing alongside this legendary musician.
Zorrito goes on to discuss his transition to the bass guitar and how his friendship with Juanse from Los Ratones Paranoicos led him to become the band’s bassist for a decade. He remembers the musical chemistry between them and how he discovered his love for playing the bass.
