Gibson unveils the reinvented Les Paul Studio—a guitar built to be “The One” for working musicians

Ready to excel both live and in the studio, the new Gibson Les Paul Studio is a versatile workhorse

Guitar players know the feeling when they find the right instrument—it just clicks. For 40 years, the Les Paul™ Studio has been that guitar for musicians who demand tone, reliability, and playability without the high-end price tag. Now, Gibson is pushing the boundaries further, reinventing the Les Paul Studio to bring it into the modern age while preserving its legacy.

The new Les Paul Studio is bristling with features that make it light, versatile, great-sounding, and accessible option for serious players looking for the one guitar to do it all on stage and in the studio. The Ultra Modern weight-relieved mahogany body offers players the comfort of a lighter guitar without sacrificing iconic Les Paul tone. Paired with a carved plain maple cap, this time-tested combination delivers the perfect tonal balance of full-bodied warmth and brightness.

The SlimTaper™ profile mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard looks classy and ensures smooth, fast playability. Equipped with highly versatile Burstbucker™ pickups, each with push/pull volume controls for coil tapping and individual tone controls, the Les Paul Studio provides endless tonal flexibility for any musical style.

Together with the fully adjustable aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, lightweight aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, and Graph Tech® nut, the no-nonsense package is completed by a range of gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, each featuring complementary plastic parts. It also comes with a soft shell case for added convenience.

In the Gibson Gear Guide video above, Gibson Master Luthier Jim DeCola clarifies the difference between coil-tapping and coil-splitting, shedding light on just how versatile this guitar is, with coil-tapping and a carefully chosen capacitor to cancel and boost the most desirable frequencies. DeCola describes it as a “fatter sounding split” that provides a more balanced output between the full humbucking mode and the coil-tap mode.

You’ll also hear Dinesh Lekhraj take you through an audio tour of all the potential pickup and tap combinations, revealing what a gem of versatility the Les Paul Studio is for the modern player.

A Les Paul for the modern player

The new Les Paul Studio may be rooted in tradition, but it’s built for contemporary musicians. Available in a range of stunning gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes such as Ebony, Blueberry Burst, Wine Red, and Cherry Sunburst, there’s a Les Paul Studio for every taste.

Mat Koehler, Gibson Vice President of Products, says, “For over 40 years, our Les Paul Studio models have been the sonic cornerstone on countless records, stages, and rehearsal spaces, offering players legendary Les Paul tones in an accessible way. As we reintroduce and expand the Les Paul Studio range with new features, we celebrate the value of quality tools in the hands of artists, and we look forward to new generations of players who champion them.”

A guitar you’ll never put down

The Les Paul Studio is designed to be your go-to guitar, the one you’ll reach for every time you play. Whether you’re playing in the studio, on stage, or just jamming at home, the Les Paul Studio is engineered for those long sessions when comfort matters just as much as tone.

The new Les Paul Studio offers the legendary Les Paul humbucker sound and a wide array of additional voices in a lighter, more comfortable package. Thanks to the coil-tapping push/pull volume controls and individual tone knobs for each pickup, the Les Paul Studio offers an almost endless array of sonic options. You can switch from full humbucker™ power to coil-tapped clarity with a simple push or pull, making it adaptable for any musical scenario.
